Cecilie graduated with a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in Cell & Tissue Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 2014.
While an undergraduate, Cecilie performed research for two years under Dr. Jialing Xiang on the genetic behavior of a tumor suppressor gene, BaxΔ2, for the purpose of developing a non-invasive method of screening for nonpolyposis hereditary colorectal cancer (HNPCC/Lynch Syndrome). In 2013, Cecilie won first place in both the university-wide and departmental poster days where she competed with graduate students. The project has been published in the Journal of Cell Science and Therapy http://goo.gl/CtaJsX.
